Introduction to Human Rights in Patient Care

At the start of this session participants are asked to capture the concept ‘patient care’ in a drawing and to depict their own role in patient care. During the group work that follows participants match personal patient care issues to relevant human rights. The results of this group work are compared and discussed at the end of the session.

  • To become familiar with human rights standards relevant to patient care
  • To gain understanding of how these human rights standards can be linked to issues in patient care that participants have come across themselves

Individuals who have little knowledge on how human rights are relevant to patient care. Basic understanding of the rights-based approach is assumed.
